The Columbia Alumni Association of San Diego, (CAASD) cordially invites you to a
thought-provoking evening, hosted by Marina and Rafael Pastor ‘72CC,
with Professor Michael Sparer  to talk about “The Politics of Healthcare & the Upcoming 2016 Presidential Election”

Please join us for a fascinating look at the highly charged political landscape in which The Obama Administration had to maneuver in order to enact one of the most controversial healthcare reforms into existence.
Professor Michael Sparer, Chair, Health Policy & Management at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, will discuss the evolution of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), otherwise known as Obamacare, the current state of the ACA, and the potential effects of the 2016 Presidential Election on the ACA’s future.

Professor Michael S. Sparer, PhD, JD, studies and writes about the politics of health care, with a particular emphasis on the health insurance and health delivery systems for low-income populations, and the ways in which inter-governmental relations influences policy, both in the U.S. and abroad. He serves as the Chair of Health Policy and Management at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health and is a two-time winner of the Mailman School's Teacher of the Year Award, as well as the recipient of a
